Pictured at right: The Hugo Boss shoot has become an iconic image illustrating the extremes of solo sailing. Jon Nash and skipper Alex Thomson co-coordinated this spectacular shoot in the Bay of Biscay on his way to the start line of the Vendee Globe 2004. "Alex had just sailed through a cold front and was powering his way in 40 knots of wind when I rendezvoused with him up in the chopper. The piloting skills were almost as extreme as Alex's sailing as I spent most of the 1.5 hours shooting at heights less than half the height of the mast. "On several occasions we were so low I had to clean the ocean from my lens."
